Last month, Oregon Democrats voted to give $7.5 million to Oregon’s Planned Parenthood abortion facilities – even though most Americans don’t think tax dollars should be used to pay for abortions (read more about that here).

What does that look like in practice?
Pro-abortion lawmakers didn’t get to simply hand over millions to Planned Parenthood without opposition.
Instead, pro-life lawmakers spoke out. They asked tough questions and demanded answers. They made sure that voters knew what was happening to their hard-earned dollars.
Republican Senator Fred Girod, for example, blasted the funding request as “a sleight of hand” for focusing on the non-abortion services Planned Parenthood provides (even though these services are already provided by many non-abortion facilities statewide, and Planned Parenthood is clearly an abortion business).
“You’re funding something that you know is going to sound good to the public, but they can take money off the top to fund what’s controversial,” Senator Girod spoke out. “I’m going to be an adamant no.”

Pro-life House Minority Leader Lucetta Elmer also condemned the funding of Planned Parenthood facilities across Oregon.
“We need to stop the political posturing and get back to listening to what Oregonians want – and use their tax dollars accordingly,” Rep. Elmer said.
It's not easy to stand up against a pro-abortion supermajority.

*The political tax credit allows a joint-filing couple to give up to $100 (single filers can give up to $50) and then receive every penny back when they file their Oregon tax return for that year.
**Single filers with a household income of $75,000 or less can claim up to $50 when filing your Oregon taxes. Joint filers with a household income of less than $150,000 can claim up to $100. Individuals with federal adjusted gross incomes over $75,000 or joint filers with combined adjusted gross incomes exceeding $150,000 no longer qualify for the Political Tax Credit. However, every contribution is still extremely valuable to our mission.
