At NVBA, advocacy is a big part of our mission. To advocate is to support or speak on behalf of a person, cause or group to promote change - essentially using your voice to ensure that needs are heard. NVBA speaks up on behalf of birds, wildlife and habitat in northern Virginia - but how? And to whom? We are having a “Week of Advocacy” featuring several events to help our community understand just that! Keep reading below to find out how you can join us and learn how to be a great advocate for birds.
On Tuesday, 12/16, we are teaming up with Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy to present a virtual discussion with Delegate Kathy Tran, Representative for Virginia District 18 and Majority Caucus Chair for the Virginia House of Delegates, on effective advocacy in Virginia. Delegate Tran will provide advice on how to advocate before the General Assembly and local governments, making your efforts to lobby elected officials more effective. This is a great opportunity to learn about how to effectively enact legislation that supports and protects the environment.
