Even to your old age, I am He; and to your grey hairs will I carry you.” — Is 46:4
Dear
SPUC supporter,
We have now passed the halfway point of our Advent campaign, but we have only raised 26% of the amount needed this month.

We can’t afford to fall short of funds right now…

The stakes have never been higher.

While SPUC engages in a once in a generation battle to protect vulnerable adults, the UK has received a visit from one of the world’s most zealous advocates for death.

Dr Philip Nitschke – “Dr Death” – spoke in London to promote his new killing device, the “death pod”,

Nitschke is “absolutely keen” that his portable gas chamber should be used in the UK, and legal experts have confirmed it could be if the Leadbeater Assisted Suicide Bill becomes law.

If Nitschke gets his way, horrendous killings and heartbreak for surviving family members will soon flood the country.

The “death pod” is a horrific device, the person is first enclosed in a sealed chamber. Toxic gas is released by pressing a button inside, and the victim suffocates to death.
The first person to die in the “death pod” was a 64-year-old American woman, who met her end in a dense and secluded forest with only Dr Nitschke’s associate Dr Florian Willet by her side. Nitschke set up a video link so that he could watch her die.

Two and a half minutes in, she began to experience severe muscle cramping. Six and a half minutes after the deadly gas had been released, Willet was heard to say, "She's still alive, Philip". It was a full thirty minutes before Willet said “She really looks dead.”

Willet was later arrested by Swiss police after strangulation marks were found on the woman’s body.

Willet insists that the woman died peacefully and it was later reported that he would not be prosecuted. On 5 May 2025, he committed suicide.

The true facts of how this poor woman spent her final moments on earth may never be known.

But we do know that Nitschke is “absolutely keen” that vulnerable people in our country will spend their last moments suffocating inside his “death pod”.

We can’t let this happen.

SPUC needs your help to stop assisted suicide being introduced in this country.

Right now, SPUC is:
* Lobbying hard at Westminster to stop Peers and MPs giving final approval to the Leadbeater Bill
* Preparing the ground for legal action against the UK Government to stop the Bill if it passes
* Engaging in essential grassroots education and campaign work to get enough votes at the next General Election to stop the planned 2029 implementation of the Bill – we only need 12 more anti-suicide MPs.

Your support is essential.

SPUC does not receive any funding from government or big business.

Every penny comes from individual donations from supporters like you.

If we don’t meet our income targets, our campaigns must ultimately be cut.

And that will let the death lobby win.

Every donation helps:
* £50 will print 2000 leaflets for distribution door-to-door
* £500 will cover the costs of producing a high-quality briefing paper for every member of the House of Lords
* £5000 will fund street outreach in a town or city for a full year

Please consider giving today at whatever level you can afford.

We must keep our children and grandchildren safe from the death pod.

Thank you for everything you do for life,
May God bless you for your great generosity,
John Deighan
Chief Executive
P.S. I rarely say that something is our “last chance” – there is always hope – but it is certainly true that stopping a bad law is easier than reversing after it passes.

We can still stop the implementation of Leadbeater Bill, but we ARE running out of time.

The time to act is NOW.

If you want to stop assisted suicide, please donate TODAY.
