English wasn’t my 1st language — it was my 2nd.

My parents were immigrants from Mexico and Spain. We didn’t have tutors. But we did have PBS. I sat cross-legged on our living room floor every day and learned English from The Count, Bert, Ernie, and the gang on Sesame Street.

MAGA gutted funding for PBS and NPR this year. That means no more Big Bird. No more “Reading Rainbow.” No more lifeline for millions of kids learning to speak, read, and dream.

I know, because I was one of them.

The America I believe in is one that helps kids get a fair shot. A country that invests in the future, and a government that makes life better for children and families.

But MAGA’s America? Billionaires get tax breaks. People are kidnapped off the street by masked agents. And the kids? They get nothing.

That’s why I’m in this fight. I’m a 1st generation American. I learned English with the help of classic shows like Sesame Street on public TV. I fought for human rights as a lawyer. I served my country as a captain in the National Guard.

Now I’m running for Congress — to take on a rigged system and build something better. But I can’t do it alone.
