It’s Monday, the start to a new work week for many -- including the Senate. They’ve been on recess for the past two weeks, completely ignoring the COVID-19 relief package that the House passed back in May.
As infection rates continue to surge across the country, the Senate’s delay in passing the next relief package is completely unacceptable. We need to give senators the push towards providing Americans the economic relief we sorely need, as well as securing the upcoming election and our democracy.
Can you take a few moments to give your senators a call, urging them to pass a relief package that includes $3.6 billion in funding for election assistance?

There’s a little over 100 days until the presidential election, one of the most important elections of our lifetimes. We can’t afford to wait to make the changes that we so desperately need while people’s lives and livelihoods are at risk.
We need to pass adequate funding NOW so every state can expand vote-by-mail and other election reforms like online voter registration, no-excuse absentee voting, and early voting. Without more election funding in the next relief package, we may see a repeat of what we saw in the Wisconsin and Georgia primaries this November -- long lines and broken machines that prevent voters from being able to make their voices heard this year.
There’s too much at stake in the 2020 election to leave anything to chance, least of all our right to vote. That’s why it’s so important for the Senate to take the House’s lead and pass $3.6 billion in election assistance funding.
