As Children’s Defense Fund’s Board Chair and as a pastor who has served children and families for more than two decades, I have seen firsthand the transformative power of this work. I joined CDF’s Board in 2021, but my connection runs deeper: I have ministered at the historic Hall-Proctor Institute for Child Advocacy Ministry and witnessed how CDF nurtures young leaders, strengthens community, and grounds our movement in faith and justice. This mission is deeply personal, rooted in my calling to serve children and families and to build a more compassionate world.
Every day, Children’s Defense Fund’s work empowers young people and their families, equips leaders and advocates, and engages key decision-makers at every level of government. As our nation faces a myriad of deep challenges in classrooms, congregations, and communities, CDF’s leadership development and organizing efforts have never been more essential. From our work with faith leaders and congregations, to our work with students and storytellers, we continue to amplify moral voices committed to justice and Beloved Community.
