Our persistence and determination are undeterred! H958 continues to be stuck in the Election Law Committee since September. Rep Hugh Blackwell and Rep Sarah Stevens are the bill sponsors and serve as Chair and Cochair of the Elections Law Committee. Rep Stevens is also running for NC Supreme Court! She spoke at the Buncombe County Republican Women's Club fabulous Christmas Party this past Friday. Unfortunately, she had to leave, so I didn't get a chance to chat with her regarding H958 and why the delay when NCEIT has given the Committee the language to eliminate foreign money in our elections and to require documentary proof of citizenship on the voter registration form (and to assure only citizens are registered to vote).
 
So, please put Rep Stevens on your call and email list. She's going to want your vote! Your need her support to assure it's easy to vote and hard to cheat!
 
And, since we are tackling this problem on several fronts, please do write a snail mail to DOJ Attorney Harmeet Dhillon U.S. General Civil Rights Division to update the NC Settlement Agreement. The 100,000 missing driver's licenses or last four of the social who cannot be contacted, need to be removed not given a provisional ballot. (See details below.) Write a Letter to Harmeet Dhillon: Contact DOJ Attorney to Update NC Settlement Agreement
 
We have the opportunity to write to the Department of Justice regarding their Settlement Agreement with the NC State Board of Elections regarding voters who do not have either a NC Driver's License number or last 4 digits of their Social Security number, if issued in their voter registration record.  Harmeet Dhillon of the DOJ has stated that these voters should be removed from the voter rolls.  This is not what the NC Settlement statement requires. 
 
Harmeet Dhillon, U.S. Assistant Attorney General Civil Rights Division, stated on Real America’s Voice:
     "…the settlement requires the state… to contact those 100,000 voters… and if they’re not able to do that, then they need to be removed from the voter rolls."
 
This is what the NC Settlement agreement states issued September 8, 2025:
e. Provisional voting will not result in removal from voter rolls. The provisional voting process outlined in this Section shall not, by itself, result in any voter being removed from the official list of registered voters in state or Federal elections in North Carolina.

 Please write a letter to Ms. Dhillon asking for an update of the Settlement. You can rewrite using your own words.

We have another opportunity - Call Key Republican Election House Representatives to make changes to H958 PCS. No foreign money in our elections and require documentary proof of citizenship on the voter registration. A check box doesn't cut it!
 
Your Action is critical to make necessary changes to the latest Proposed Committee Substitute (PCS) of H958 Election Law Changes before the 2026 mid-terms.
 
Raleigh is in session the 15th, 16th and 17th this week. Continue to email and call key Republicans this week especially Maria Lord from Rep Blackwell's office.
Please do not forget Rep Sarah Stevens. Our goal is to get H958 passed before the midterms to assure a positive impact on our elections. Persistence!
