Hi friend,

I hope you’re well. This week, I wanted to highlight cuts to our long-celebrated local citizenship ceremonies, Trump’s brazen lies on the economy, and my efforts to fire Pete Hegseth. I’m really grateful to have you on this journey with me, and thank you for staying engaged.

These ceremonies mark the moment when our newest neighbors finally become American citizens after years of hard work, investment, and sacrifice. Canceling them without warning or justification is unacceptable. I sent a formal letter to the Director of USCIS demanding clarity on why these events were canceled, how many people were affected, and what the agency plans to do to correct the situation. I am pushing for every canceled ceremony to be reinstated and for the families who have waited years for this moment to finally receive the respect they deserve.

What you can do: If you or someone you know was affected by these cancellations, contact my office so we can assist directly. Naturalization is a celebration of the American Dream. Our community must stand together to ensure that no one seeking citizenship is pushed aside or forgotten.

What I’m doing: This week, I pushed back hard [[link removed]] against President Trump’s claim that the economy is doing great. He told the country that prices are “all coming down,” and even gave himself an “A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus” on economic performance. That is not what families in New York are experiencing. I told CNN exactly what I hear every day from constituents. People are being crushed by the cost of housing, groceries, health care, and utilities. For the president to dismiss those struggles is insulting. I am working to lower costs for families through targeted relief on health insurance, prescription drugs, and housing, because the reality on the ground matters more than what Trump and his rich friends are selling.

What you can do: Keep sharing your story. When elected officials hear directly from the people they represent, it forces Washington to confront the truth instead of hiding behind talking points. Contact my office if rising costs are affecting you. Your experiences help shape the policies we fight for. We will continue to hold this administration accountable until New Yorkers see real relief in their daily lives.

What I’m doing: I led a group of House Armed Services Committee Democrats in demanding that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth release the full audio and video of the U.S. military strikes on an alleged Venezuelan drug boat. These strikes have raised serious questions about whether unarmed survivors were targeted after the initial attack. As I recently said on CNN, [[link removed]] the full video must be released. President Trump himself said he would have “no problem” releasing the footage, so I pressed Secretary Hegseth to follow through. In our letter, we made it clear that the American people deserve transparency and that it is his obligation to release the footage without delay. This comes on top of my call for Hegseth to resign due to his reckless conduct and his handling of classified information. Congress must have full visibility into military actions carried out in our name.

What you can do: Stay engaged and demand accountability. I’m leading the charge to Fire Pete Hegseth, and you can sign the petition here [[link removed]] to join me.

Going on offense

This is a moment that calls for every patriot to step up and make their voices heard. I’m using every platform I have to get Pete Hegseth removed from office because he is a danger to our troops and our country’s security. We all have to push back against this administration in big and small ways, and I’m grateful that you’re here alongside me.

Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!

In Solidarity,

Pat
