Dear John,
As the 2020 election season heats up, Boundary Waters Action Fund – the political arm of the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters – is leading the fight to elect candidates who are committed to protecting the Boundary Waters.
During the presidential primaries, you helped us sound the alarm on the threats to the Boundary Waters, leading to an unprecedented twelve Democratic presidential candidates pledging to protect the Boundary Waters.
Now, it’s time to raise your voices again. [[link removed]] With Donald Trump up for reelection, the need to protect the Boundary Waters has never been more urgent. The threat of a sulfide-ore copper mine proposed on the edge of the Wilderness still looms large, as the Trump administration continues to subvert the environmental review process and use illegal maneuvers to push the mine forward.
To help protect the Boundary Waters, we need you to:
- Pledge to only support candidates at the national and local level who are committed to protecting the Boundary Waters.
- Tell candidates where you stand on protecting the Boundary Waters.
- Talk to your friends about the threats to the Boundary Waters and encourage them to become a Wilderness Defender.

New polling shows that nearly 70% of Minnesota voters want their elected officials to protect the Boundary Waters, [[link removed]] not leave it vulnerable to dangerous mining that threatens the environment and the thriving outdoor recreation economy it supports. Protecting the Boundary Waters is not only the right thing to do – it’s a winning political issue as well. Help us make that loud and clear at the ballot box this November. [[link removed]]
