ACLU Supporter, it's Liz FitzGerald, director of development at the ACLU, and I wanted to quickly follow up on the email we sent earlier today introducing our new ACLU Democracy Fund, with a $100,000 goal to fuel our work in 2026.

Reaching this goal will help ensure the ACLU can keep fighting the Trump administration's attacks on free speech, immigrants' rights, LGBTQ equality, and more going into what is sure to be another challenging year.

But after an initial surge of support, I just checked the numbers. We are not on track to reach our goal by tomorrow's deadline. So I'm personally asking: Will you make a donation today to help hit our goal and continue defending civil rights and our democracy?

We came into this year with a battle-tested playbook – and it has helped us win key victories against the Trump administration:

1. We've taken over 200 legal actions against the Trump administration, more than 60% of which have already succeeded at defeating, diluting, or delaying the president's anti-liberty agenda.
2. We've built a firewall for freedom – ensuring that local leaders don't give in to unconstitutional demands from the Trump administration and, instead, helping them pass policies that actually protect our communities.
3. We've mobilized millions of supporters, collecting hundreds of thousands of signatures on our petitions, educating tens of thousands of people about their rights, and leading protests nationwide.

Now, we've launched the ACLU Democracy Fund to continue showing up – and winning – in 2026 and for years to come. Because this is the fight of our lifetime, and we need you with us, ACLU Supporter.
