MEMORANDUM ON VOTE-BY-MAIL OBSTRUCTION
Friend -- As we get closer and closer to November, our team is tracking key attacks on the United States Post Office and blatant obstruction to vote-by-mail. We want to update you on five of our top findings of the year.
Please consider donating to our advocacy efforts to protect and expand vote-by-mail against attacks like these designed to undermine commonsense election protections before November: AllOnTheLine.org/VBMprotection.
-- President Trump refuses to fund the USPS
In April, the president declared that he would block funding for the USPS. CNN reported that Trump went as far as calling the Postal Service "a joke." The possible collapse of America's most widely used public service is nothing to laugh at -- it's serious and threatens fair, safe elections this November.

-- The U.S. Supreme Court sanctioned voter suppression in Wisconsin
The night before Wisconsin's primary, Roberts and crew overturned a lower court's extended deadline for receipt of absentee ballots causing what Justice Ginsburg feared would be "massive disenfranchisement."

-- 70% of Americans support vote-by-mail, yet many state legislatures refuse to expand access during the pandemic
Despite widespread support for voting-by-mail, many state legislatures have not expanded access -- and in places like Georgia, there have even been proposals to restrict secretaries of state from mailing absentee ballot requests to all voters.

-- Indicted Texas A.G. Ken Paxton says he won't hesitate to prosecute voters
Paxton threatened that his office would prosecute people for voter fraud if they use a mail-in ballot "improperly" during the country's public health emergency. What does improperly mean? It would mean anyone who doesn't meet Texas's restrictive criteria to vote-by-mail, but attempts to protect their health during a public health crisis by voting via mail-in ballot. Paxton's actions will further suppress the vote.

-- Mitch McConnell refuses to consider the proposed $3.6 billion in election protection funding
The HEROES Act -- which includes funding for the USPS and would help offset costs for expanding vote-by-mail -- is essential to making our elections more safe, fair, and accessible this November. But McConnell has been sitting on this bill for more than two months now and even called it a "liberal wish list" and "an unserious product." We must pressure our leaders in Washington to pass the bill before it's too late to make an impact.

These attacks on vote-by-mail make it clear -- we must challenge all the tools map manipulators weaponize to undermine a fair redistricting process next year. But we know that's impossible without the support of a strong grassroots army. Can we count on you to fuel our efforts to achieve fair maps with a donation that's most comfortable for you?
