A previous OLCV intern, Jamie Hartmann from Portland, Oregon, wants to share their story advocating for OLCV endorsed candidates:
“I wanted a way to get involved in my community when it came to combatting climate change. When I discovered OLCV, I was astounded with the amount of effort they put in. Every Oregon congressperson's vote on every climate-related bill was recorded and factored into their "lifetime score", a measurement of how much good an Oregon politician has done in regards to pushing pro-climate bills forward and shutting anti-climate bills down. As a high school intern, I helped to canvas and phone bank during election season, write to my representatives regarding potential laws, and even got to be part of a team interviewing potential candidates for an OLCV endorsement. Simply put, OLCV does the hard work so the average climate-concerned voter has an easy guide to voting that aligns with their priorities. I was proud to work with OLCV, and my climate and political knowledge has been enriched because of it.”
