Hi,
Thirteen years ago today, a gunman shot and killed 20 young children and
six educators at Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Tragically, today we're also mourning another act of gun violence, this
time at Brown University, where at least two people were shot and killed
and several others critically wounded yesterday.
Too many of our leaders continue to ignore the need for action on gun
violence, even while gun violence remains the leading cause of death for
school-aged kids in the United States. It's unacceptable.
Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action were created in the wake
of the tragedy at Sandy Hook School to become a grassroots-powered
counterweight to the gun lobby. Since then, we've also launched Students
Demand Action: Led by student advocates at schools across the country,
these young leaders just formed their 1,000th group. The movement to end
gun violence has grown tremendously over the past decade. But once again,
it's clear we have so much more work to do.
Together, we're continuing to work every day for a future free from gun
violence so that our kids feel safe going to school to learn—not duck and
cover from gunfire. [ [link removed] ]Join us in taking the pledge to recommit yourself

read "Commit to take action against gun violence in 2026" and a button
that reads "take the pledge" The other half of the photo shows an

We know we've got some big challenges ahead, but we've never let that stop
us before. In 2026, we must keep up the fight to end gun violence in
America, and we're grateful you're part of our movement of more than 11
million volunteers, survivors, advocates, and supporters.
Thank you,
Everytown for Gun Safety
