Good morning,
This week, Republicans had an opportunity to save the Affordable Care Act subsidies and stop massive increases in health care premiums for millions of Americans including more than 1.7 million Californians.
Instead, they voted no — and are going to watch millions of Americans lose their coverage because they simply can’t afford to pay the premiums.
In California, premiums are set to nearly double on average. It is going to be a disaster for millions of people.
People are going to have to choose between paying for their health insurance and continuing life-saving treatment, or putting food on the table.
Republicans are in the majority in the Senate. They’re the majority in the House, and they control the White House.
And yet, at a time where Americans are already facing a huge increase in the cost of living, they are refusing to come up with a serious plan to address health care costs.
Nobody should go bankrupt because they can’t afford their medical expenses, and nobody should have to choose between paying hospital bills or putting food on the table for their family. But that is exactly what Republicans are expecting millions of Americans to do.
Friends, as long as the GOP holds control of Congress, they will continue to come after our health care to pass tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.
The only way to set things right is to win back the majority. That means winning some tough Senate races, including in states that Donald Trump won in 2024.
I am going to do everything in my power to bring about a landslide victory for Democrats in the midterms, all across the country and up and down the ballot.
There is too much at stake to give anything less than our absolute best effort.
So before you close this message, I’m humbly asking for your help:
Together, we will make sure that Republicans pay the political price for their cruel choice to force millions of Americans off their health care.
