| JOHN, As required under state law, Florida’s Department of Education just reported that about 400 books were removed (full list here) from classrooms and libraries during the 2024–25 school year. These bans happened because of a single rule: if one parent or guardian files an objection in that district, the school board must respond — and extremist-controlled boards are interpreting that as permission to pull books off shelves immediately. Because of one complaint, hundreds of children lose access to books. JOHN, there is one silver lining: in August, a judge ruled that part of the law that makes this complaint process possible, HB1069, is “overbroad and unconstitutional.” But you and I both know the extremists behind this law will not back down easily. They’re already gearing up for 2026, and that means we have to be ready, too. Educated We Stand is building up our warchest to push back against their agenda and elect school board leaders who will protect the freedom to read. If you believe in the freedom to read, we need you with us right now. Chip in today to help us fight back.
