I can’t help but reflect on how I want to live whatever time I have left.
My dear friends, every year around my birthday, I can’t help but reflect on how I want to live whatever time I have left. On my 82nd birthday, that reflection happened in a jail cell because I refused to stay quiet about the climate crisis – which was not, I’ll admit, part of the plan.
So for my 88th? My team is hosting a virtual celebration to roast me. A little chaos, a lot of love, and a few friends who’ve known me long enough to tell stories I probably shouldn’t let them share.
When I turned 60, I realized I was stepping into my final act. I decided then that I would live the rest of my life without regrets – held up by the people I love, and by the people who love this planet and all living species as fiercely as I do. That clarity has guided me for nearly three decades. It’s what brings me to this work, and to you, day after day.
And it’s why I’m so looking forward to an evening of laughter and recommitting, alongside you, to the work of electing the bold and brave leaders who can help us take back the House of Representatives in 2026.
As a little thank you, everyone who grabs a ticket will also get a special bonus from me: a festive holiday drink recipe to enjoy during the event – cocktail or mocktail, your choice. Consider it my way of making sure you have something delicious in hand when we raise a glass together.
xx Jane
