First, I grew up working in the tobacco fields in eastern North Carolina, where I learned the value of hard work and dedication. I attended the Air Force Academy and served in uniform for 8 years before becoming mayor of Snow Hill. My early life shaped my belief that our government should work for the people.

Then, I ran, won, and was reelected again to represent eastern North Carolina in Congress — each time under a new map. It gets harder every time, but eastern North Carolina has given me so much, and I refuse to stop fighting for the community that raised me.

Now, I’m running for re-election for a third time under a third map . Amid Republican redistricting schemes and attacks pouring in, I’m working hard to fight back. But I can’t do it without your help.

I’m running to represent the new NC-01 in Congress because eastern North Carolina deserves a representative who understands our communities’ unique struggles — from rising costs and uncertainty about healthcare to education system strains and natural disasters — I’m the only candidate with a record of delivering.
