For a moment, I’d like you to consider what North Carolina means to you.

For me, it’s home. It’s where I grew up. It’s where I met Anna, my wife of 29 years. It’s where we raised our three kids. All the opportunities that have come my way are thanks to the start I got right here.

And in return, I’ve spent most of my professional life trying to make our communities stronger and expand opportunities so the next generation of North Carolinians has every chance to succeed.

Every time we make a step forward — expanding Medicaid, getting more resources to public schools, bringing more good-paying jobs to all corners of the state — it helps create the brighter future that I know North Carolina deserves.

But John, we’ve had to work hard to take every single one of those steps forward. And they’re all on the line if the far-right gets their way.

We’re the only state in the country without a budget because of division and dysfunction between GOP lawmakers. Teachers and law enforcement are in limbo waiting for the pay raises they deserve. And Medicaid for 3 million North Carolinians is still not fully funded.

This isn’t the future I want for our state — our home. North Carolina means everything to me. It’s worth every fight, and I’m ready to take them on, but I need your help. Please pitch in anything that might fit in your budget to help us keep up the work for North Carolina.
