Dear John,

Crucial amendment to the Trade Bill is tonight.

Tell your MP to give Parliament a say in our trade partners.

The Djanogly Amendment that would allow Parliament a vote on who we trade with could be decided as soon as 8pm tonight. Tell your MP to support the amendment now.

Every western democracy gives their legislature the power to vote on new trade deals. Yet the Trade Bill, currently being debated in the House of Commons, will deprive Parliament of a say in our future trade policy.

How is ‘Global Britain’ meant to take control of its trade policy if our representatives are not even allowed to vote on it?

The trade deals we strike will impact each and every one of us - from letting in the USA’s chlorinated chicken, to accepting lower environmental standards for our pesticides. Tell your MP Parliament must have oversight of our trade deals. Tell your MP before tonight’s vote.

We are negotiating free trade agreements with the USA and Japan - their law-makers will have a say on the terms of these deals. Why shouldn’t we?

Best wishes,

Cary Mitchell,
