With the House and Senate back in Washington this week, NAFCU's award-winning advocacy team remains engaged on Capitol Hill as lawmakers tackle several issues that could impact the credit union industry, including the fiscal year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Phase 4 of coronavirus relief, NCUA Board nominee and more.


NAFCU details NCUA exam modernization efforts, seeks member feedback [ [link removed] ]
NAFCU is currently seeking comment from member credit unions on the NCUA's request for information (RFI) on virtual examinations as part of NCUA’s larger exam modernization efforts, including strategies for the future of exams and the use of digital technology.


Lawmakers discuss impact of PPP with SBA, Treasury [ [link removed] ]
The House Small Business Oversight Subcommittee Friday held a hearing with Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Jovita Carranza and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, which focused on the impact of the paycheck protection program (PPP) in helping small businesses hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

NAFCU's Virtual BSA School – reimagined in an all new digital format to ensure credit union compliance professionals have the core Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/anti-money laundering (AML) knowledge needed amid the coronavirus pandemic – kicks off today with sessions focused on BSA/AML basics and key regulations.


CFPB announces enhancements to consumer complaint database [ [link removed] ]
The CFPB Friday announced new updates and capabilities to the Consumer Complaint Database, which will allow users to see information about complaints over time using an enhanced set of filter options. NAFCU has previously shared concerns with the bureau regarding the consequences credit unions face as a result of unverified consumer narratives.
