Mississippi is changing, but that change has been very hard won.

Mike Espy has witnessed and experienced the challenges facing our state throughout his life, from being one of 18 Black students to integrate Yazoo City High School (where he helped lead a walkout), to becoming Mississippi’s first Black U.S congressman since Reconstruction, and becoming the first (and only) Black U.S. secretary of agriculture in history.

Now, Mike wants to keep moving Mississippi forward by fighting for every Mississippian in the U.S. Senate – unlike our opponent, Cindy Hyde-Smith, who’s holding us back and hurting our state.

Please take a moment to watch Mike Espy’s new ad that shares some of his incredible life story and his motivation for running to become Mississippi’s next senator, then pitch in to help him succeed: [[link removed]]

Mike’s family has a legacy of breaking barriers and making a difference in Mississippi. His grandfather founded the first hospital in the state to serve Black patients in 1924. Up until then, Black Mississippians were forced to give birth in the fields or sharecropper shacks.

After Emmett Till was lynched, his body was released to Mike’s father's funeral home for the awful responsibility of preparing him for return to Chicago.

Mike experienced harassment when he integrated his high school, including teachers spraying him with fire extinguishers and students beating him up.

But Mike went on to dedicate his career to serving Mississippi. Mike loves Mississippi, and our campaign is about lifting up our people. Progress is hard won, and Mississippi has a hurtful past, but Mike is ready and willing to fight for it.

On the flip side, Cindy Hyde-Smith is trying to drag us back into the worst of Mississippi’s history with her talk of public hangings and voter suppression, glorifying confederate symbols, and refusal to support the changing of Mississippi’s state flag.

Together, we have what it takes to keep Mississippi moving forward toward a brighter future. If you’re ready for more progress, chip in $10 or more to support our campaign. [[link removed]]

We don’t get what we don’t fight for. This November, let’s make history and move Mississippi forward, together.
