Security | Agriculture | Summer Recess









The European institutions are gradually switching to summer mode, which means this will be the last week of activities and also the last EU Weekly before a one-month long break.

Several Council meetings are still taking place over the course of the coming days, mostly focusing on the reform of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the Farm to Fork Strategy. Meanwhile, the Commission will launch its new Security Union Strategy on Wednesday.

No parliamentary meetings are foreseen for this week, as the European Parliament enters summer recess. MEPs will resume their activities in the last week of August.

This week, the European Commission will present a new Security Union Strategy, which aims to strengthen Europol’s mandate, the additional measures on Critical Infrastructure Protection and the review of the Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems. It will also focus on new technologies and their potential misuse for criminal purposes, as well as on enhancing law enforcement cooperation and ensuring interoperability of EU information systems. Furthermore, Commissioner Dalli will hold a videoconference meeting with Irene Montero, Spanish Minister of Equality.

This week, EU agriculture and fisheries ministers will hold their first Council meeting under the German presidency and discuss the reform of the common agricultural policy (CAP) and the Farm to Fork Strategy. On Tuesday and Wednesday, EU ministers responsible for research and innovation will address the contribution those topics can make to social, economic and ecological transformation.
