Texas Tech is America’s team. It’s a Main Street university in Middle America made up of mostly kids from working families.   
 
It’s a heartland culture that reflects our nation’s traditional faith and family values. Like our pioneering fathers who braved the harsh elements to settle the Great Plains of West Texas, Red Raiders know how to work, fight, and never quit. They don’t expect anyone to give them anything. They don’t waste time complaining about being underrated or underestimated. They know respect is earned not given. And, they know it’s not about pleasing the crowd or pundits, it’s about giving their best to each other, themselves, and their university. 
 
I’m proud to be a Red Raider. I’m honored to represent Texas Tech in Congress. And, I’m fired up for the country to know more about West Texas - the Food, Fuel, and Fiber (and FOOTBALL!) Capital of the World.

Relief for Farmers

President Trump has taken bold steps to tear down unfair foreign trade barriers that have held back American agriculture for decades. 
 
In just the first year of his second term, he’s already secured new agreements with more than a dozen countries that will strengthen demand for West Texas crops and livestock. 
But rebalancing a global trade system stacked against American producers isn’t easy and requires tough negotiations. 
 
That’s why I’m grateful the President is using a portion of the record tariff revenues - just as he successfully did in his first term to keep producers in the game - to provide short-term support for our great farmers and ranchers while the future benefits of these new trade deals are solidified.  

Ushering in the Golden Age 

The American people gave President Trump and unified Republican leadership a mandate to reverse course on Democrats’ economic failures, and it’s already paying off.  
 
Thanks to the pro-growth, pro-work, pro-energy policies we have put in place, the economy is growing, wages are outpacing inflation, mortgage costs are coming down, and families are keeping more of their hard-earned money - and this virtuous cycle has only just begun. 
 
I joined the Faulkner Focus to discuss how Republicans are delivering real economic momentum and working to enact long-overdue health care reforms instead of extending failed, fraud-ridden, COVID-era Obamacare subsidies. 

New Report Finds Rampant Fraud in Obamacare Premium Tax Credit

A bombshell report from the Government Accountability Office has exposed the rampant fraud plaguing Democrats’ expanded Obamacare subsidies, which have effectively no eligibility checks, anti-fraud controls, or other basic program integrity measures in place, resulting in billions of wasted tax dollars and increased health care costs. 
 
The details are shocking. There were tens of thousands of cases where fraudsters used phony information, no information, or duplicative information to siphon federal resources from these COVID-era, expanded Obamacare subsidies. 
 
It was Democrats who created this shoddy subsidy program with no financial controls, no income cap, and no guardrails against the most blatant fraud, including the approval of subsidies for thousands of dead people. 
 
It was Democrats who shut the government down for a record 43 days with the demand of making this program permanent at a cost to taxpayers of over $400 billion. 
 
Now, Democrats have the audacity to demand Republicans extend these fraud-ridden subsidies. 
 
There is absolutely no justification for perpetuating these subsidies or the failed government-controlled Obamacare system Democrats are artificially propping up.

Instead, Republicans should continue to implement reforms that lower costs, expand affordable options, and protect American taxpayers.

Widespread Welfare Fraud in Minnesota

During the pandemic more than $1 billion in federal taxpayer dollars intended for child nutrition, elderly care, and autism assistance was stolen in Minnesota under the leadership of Governor Walz and after repeated fraud warnings from hundreds of his own employees. 
 
It’s important to note, Democrats fought tooth and nail against congressional Republicans’ efforts to root out over a trillion dollars in waste and fraud in federal welfare programs in the Big Beautiful Bill.  
 
Next, Democrats attempted to reverse those anti-fraud measures as leverage for their government shutdown ploy.

Now, congressional Democrats want Republicans to join them in extending yet another fraud-ridden, COVID-era program—expanded Obamacare subsidies.   
 
Taxpayers expect the federal government to provide safety net programs that actually help the most vulnerable Americans, not allow their hard-earned money to be needlessly wasted by fraudsters and incompetent politicians.

I’ve got one question: which party do you most trust to steward your tax dollars?

Fighting to Lower Health Care Costs, Increase Transparency

I introduced the Healthy Competition for Better Care Act, bipartisan legislation to promote transparency in health care, crack down on anti-competitive practices, and remove restrictions preventing competition in health care markets. 
 
Americans are paying too much for too little health care. My Healthy Competition for Better Care Act cracks down on anti-competitive practices, removes unnecessary restrictions, and gives patients the freedom to find better-quality and lower-cost care. 
 
This bipartisan legislation puts hardworking families first, ensures fair competition, and puts patients, not bureaucrats, back in charge of their health care. 

Welcoming my Brother, Dr. Yancey C. Arrington, as Guest Chaplain of the U.S. House of Representatives 

I had the honor and joy of hearing the voice of my older brother, Dr. Yancey C. Arrington, lead the People’s House in prayer, continuing the sacred tradition since 1789 of calling on Almighty God to consecrate our service for the American people. 
 
 I am eternally grateful for my brother's spiritual influence over the years and have always been inspired by his unwavering devotion to God's word, to God's people, and to God's only begotten Son, Jesus, our Lord.
