Catching Up with Quigley: Week In Review

Dear John,

I returned to Washington this week to hold the Trump administration accountable. Here are three things I did to fight for you:

1. Supported Bipartisan Investigations into the Venezuelan Boat Strikes

I joined MSNOW's Alex Witt to discuss current foreign affairs. During our conversation, I said it's ironic that Trump is committing these strikes on Venezuelan boats, without evidence that they have drugs. Yet, he's publicly campaigning for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I also noted how Republicans in Congress are finally taking a stand against the president, and how this scandal, like the Epstein files, is becoming too big to ignore. I support bipartisan investigations into these strikes — we must hold the White House accountable.

I also continued calling for Pete Hegseth's resignation, following an independent investigation from the Pentagon Inspector General proving Hegseth risked the lives of our servicemembers during Signalgate.

2. Honored Deceased Constituent and Veteran, Daniel Sullivan

I also gave a speech on the House Floor honoring my constituent, Daniel James Sullivan. Daniel passed away peacefully this summer.

As a veteran of the Korean War, Daniel secretly delivered bread to nuns at a nearby orphanage during his deployment. He carried this generous spirit to his family, his church, and his Chicago community. I never had a chance to meet Daniel, but I had the privilege of working with his granddaughter, Catherine, when she interned in my DC office.

3. Honored Hanukkah and Called for Action Against Antisemitism

Quigley and bipartisan group of members condemn antisemitism and murders of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky.

This weekend, Jewish families across Chicago, the country, and the world, are celebrating Hanukkah. The Festival of Lights is a time for reflection and celebration – a time to find gratitude for life’s blessings. As we celebrate the resilience of the Jewish people, we must also recognize the struggles the community continues to face.

Last year, anti-Jewish hate crimes rose almost 60 percent. Across the city, we have seen racist flyers, synagogue windows smashed, and schools defaced with hate symbols. Though three percent of Chicago’s residents are Jewish, the community makes up almost 40 percent of hate crime victims. The way to fight antisemitism and prejudice here at home is to identify it, speak out against it, and take action.
