Alina Habba is out—for good, this time!
Alina Habba is gone, and not a moment too soon! After the Third Circuit court ruled last week that Trump’s pick for U.S. Attorney for New Jersey was illegally appointed and effectively squatting, she resigned in disgrace on Monday.
Trump sought to unlawfully appoint a series of unqualified U.S. attorneys without Senate confirmation because he wanted to use our justice system as a political tool. Alina Habba never made it a priority to make New Jersey a safer place. Instead, she used her position to go after Trump’s enemies and open baseless investigations. As a result, the work typically done by U.S. Attorneys—bringing criminals to justice—often ground to a halt.
Trump can’t keep going around Congress. He installed Alina Habba without Senate confirmation and against a law I helped pass that mandated that U.S. Attorneys be confirmed by the Senate in the first place. The Circuit Court’s decision, as well as Alina Habba’s resignation, show that the President isn’t above the law—and I welcome both developments.

Bringing wins for our firefighters and first responders
This week, I was proud to announce that I secured over $50,000 in federal funding for the towns of Edison and Sea Bright to upgrade and modernize their firefighting equipment! The funding comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) funding grant, which is a program I’m fighting to support and protect in the face of President Trump’s efforts to abolish FEMA.
The funding will help Sea Bright obtain funds to purchase new defibrillators, a chest compression system, a new air bag system for firefighters in distress, and training for the new equipment. The funding will also help Edison obtain funding for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Emergency Medical Response certifications for firefighters.
I’m happy that Edison and Sea Bright were able to secure these grants to provide local firefighters with new and updated equipment, and ensure they have the training they need to use it. The safety of our communities depends on the ability of our first responders having the resources they need to respond to emergencies.

WE HAVE A WINNER!
Congratulations to Eric Dai and Vaibhav Sitaraman from Edison Academy Magnet School for winning my Congressional App Challenge! Their app RoadWatch is an initiative to enhance road safety and address infrastructure issues. Their app uses an AI-powered dashcam to detect road infrastructure issues, alert drivers, and report incidents to local governments.
