LGBTQ+ Stories You Should Know About

This is our final Agenda of the year — thank you for reading, supporting, and fighting with us all year long! See you in 2026.

All Eyes on Houston: Alejandra Salinas Heads to December 13 Runoff

Alejandra Salinas is heading into a crucial runoff for Houston City Council At-Large Position 4 with Election Day set for December 13!

After finishing just over her opponent in the November general election by a slim margin, Salinas has been hitting the doors and mobilizing voters in the final stretch of the campaign to boost turnout.

Her momentum got a major boost with a key endorsement from The Houston Chronicle, which highlighted her deep policy knowledge and willingness to stand up for Houston families on issues from public safety to immigrant rights.

Salinas — a nationally recognized attorney, LGBTQ + leader, and community advocate — is making her case directly to neighborhoods across the city as she vies to bring inclusive, equitable leadership to City Council.

Building a Pro-Equality Majority in the U.S. House

LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is proud to endorse three powerhouse leaders running to bring pro-equality leadership to Congress: Eric Chung in Michigan’s 10th District, Erik Bottcher in New York’s 12th District, and Scott Wiener in California’s 11th District!

Each of these candidates brings deep experience, strong community ties, and a commitment to protecting our rights at a time when the stakes couldn’t be higher. From flipping must-win districts to defending safe pro-equality seats with bold LGBTQ+ voices, these endorsements reflect the growing momentum behind candidates ready to lead with integrity, expertise, and courage.

Big Wins and Big Momentum Across Our Congressional Endorsees

It’s been a major week for several Victory Fund–endorsed congressional candidates.

Mike Simmons, running to make history in Illinois’ 9th District, just earned a powerful endorsement from Equality PAC, adding national weight to his growing coalition.

In Minnesota, Secretary Pete Buttigieg threw his support behind Angie Craig as she campaigns to become the first out LGBTQ+ U.S. Senator from the state!

And in Georgia’s 13th District, Everton Blair is surging — releasing a sharp new campaign video and taking the debate stage to lay out a clear, compelling vision for change.

Our candidates are building momentum nationwide, and we’re thrilled to have their backs every step of the way.

A History-Making Win in Deep-Red Ohio

In one of the most inspiring victories of the year, Gie May, an out nonbinary candidate, won a seat in their ruby-red Ohio town — by just 13 votes.

What started as an effort to simply show Wadsworth that there were candidates beyond the existing slate became something far more powerful. Voters responded to May’s authenticity, message, and commitment to their community, proving that even in deeply conservative areas, inclusive leadership can break through.

As May told The Buckeye Flame, they didn’t believe it at first either — but their win is a reminder that every vote counts, and that visibility and courage can shift what’s possible.
