I won’t lie to you and say this bill is groundbreaking. It’s really just a clarification of the background check law we already have on the books, and it will close a loophole related to the unlicensed private sale of assault rifles without a background check.
Enacting a universal background check law is the bare minimum our elected officials can do to prevent more guns from winding up in the hands of people who wish to do harm. Most background checks take less than a minute and save Pennsylvanians from a lifetime of pain. Nearly all Americans, including a large majority of gun owners, support universal background checks. This should be an easy gun policy bill for all of our senators to pass into law. Take action by signing our petition telling Sen. Baker to hold a vote on the Universal Background Check bill. |
