Email from Alliance For Children December Happenings at Alliance For Children Christmas Connection is Here! The holiday season is upon us, and so is Christmas Connection, our annual holiday pop-up store! Thank you to all of our amazing donors and volunteers who have helped us fill our store with games, bicycles, dolls, action figures, and other exciting items! Christmas Connection allows our caregivers to select items for each child in their care, bringing dignity and empowerment to their holiday "shopping". Thanks to everyone's generosity, we are well on our way to making the holidays memorable to hundreds of child abuse victims this year! Shopping will conclude on Tuesday, December 16. Keep your eyes and ears open for more photos and information in the coming weeks! Agency Highlight! A big thanks to 360 West Magazine for the beautifully written article giving great insight to our mission and the daily work we do for Tarrant County's child victims of crime. The story also gives well-deserved kudos to our fearless leader and CEO, Julie Evans, and her dedication to protecting our community's kids. Read All About It! SAVE THE DATE Let's Play Bingo! Purchase Tables & Tickets Now New MDT Member - Meet Copper! Meet our newest multidisciplinary team member - Copper! A four-legged “Officer” of the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) of the Fort Worth Police Department, Copper is 1 of 7 dogs in Texas (and the only one West of Dallas) that is specially trained as an Electronic Storage Detection K-9. Copper is skilled in fighting child exploitation using his powerful nose to seek out hidden electronics such as cell phones, hard drives, thumb drives, and other devices that could be hidden by a perpetrator in one of our cases. Specifically, Copper is sensitive to the smell of the “glue” or TPPO (Triphenylphosphine Oxide) used to hold electronics together. Partnered with Detective Hoeppner, Copper spent two weeks in training, honing his skills and nose. His first official day in the ICAC Unit was November 15. Not only has Copper already found 72 of devices in his short month with us, but he is also a certified service dog, providing some extra love to our kids, partners, and staff alike. A very special thank you to the John & Jane Justin Foundation and OUR Rescue for the support in bringing this two-year-old, cuddly Red Labrador to our team! He is changing the game on providing hard evidence on our cases, and hopefully decreasing future child exploitation cases in our area! Looking for a New Year's Resolution?
