Folks,

Our North State community is no stranger to drought -- or the catastrophic fires they cause. Our forest health is in crisis, and we need to get a handle on it to prevent the imminent loss and devastation we’ve come to expect year after year.

Rep. LaMalfa has barely made a dent in this priority, and in turn, our forests are a tinderbox. For the safety of our people, wildlife and livelihoods, this ignorance needs to stop. Audrey has concrete plans to solve our forestry and fire problems, but we need to get her to Congress if they will ever be enacted. Can you chip in $20 to her campaign right now to invest in the future of the North State?

Patches of the North State were considered to be “in a severe drought” as far back as in April, and as the season continues, the drought is not letting up. It has reached a stagnation but we never know when it will intensify -- and our forests are not equipped to survive.

As our Congresswoman, Audrey plans to:
  • Support Career and Technical Education (CTE) to prepare or retrain the workforce for forest management.
  • Increase public-private partnership in forest management through stewardship contracts, which reduce the cost of forest management, and boost local economies.
  • Support for education and implementation of proactive fire control measures, including fuel breaks, controlled burns, and forest thinning Support selective sustainable logging, to restore appropriate density to the forests, and remove excess and dead trees.
  • Support education and implementation of scientifically proven forest management strategies that provide for the diversity of species and ages of trees in the forest, reducing the chance of massive die-off from disease or pest outbreaks.
  • Create economic incentives and remove barriers for new industry utilization of woody biomass removed from public land.

What has Rep. LaMalfa done? Passed one bill that allows utility providers to remove hazardous vegetation near power lines before it can cause a wildfire. That is it.

We need more, and Audrey will provide it. Please, rush in a donation of any amount right now for a safer, fire-free Northern California!
