Coloradans aren’t asking for much.

We all want health care to be affordable and accessible. We don’t want to have to leave our beautiful state just to afford a home. And as the holidays come around, we all want just a little extra room in our budgets to give our kids a special holiday.

That’s the American Dream — that if you work hard and play by the rules, you’ll have the opportunity to own a home. To give your kids their first bike for Christmas without going into debt. To have a safety net when life happens and there are unexpected bills…

I came from humble beginnings. A kid from a working-class family like mine normally wouldn’t make it to Congress. But because of support from people who believed in me, I worked hard and I was the first in my family to graduate from high school and then college. I’m still working hard and living the American Dream — and I believe everyone should have the same chances I did.

But right now, people don’t — and the Republican Party refuses to do anything about it.

Think about it for a second: What happens to the American Dream if Democrats don’t take back Congress next year? If we give Trump two more years of unchecked power?

It’s terrifying to even imagine.

That’s why I’m working so hard to do my part here in Colorado’s 7th — to make sure our state doesn’t slip up on Election Day. And it’s why I’m sending you this email as well.

I know times are tough right now for so many of us. I know your holiday shopping has probably made a serious dent in your budget. But if you can spare even $5, that would help! There is no world where Democrats take back Congress without grassroots supporters like you. That’s the truth.

So before you log off for the weekend, I need you to know: There is no more important time to donate than today.
