We’re looking for new team members who are dedicated to conserving Maine’s fish, wildlife and other natural resources and protecting the people who enjoy them.
Join us for an information session to meet current wardens and learn about the rewarding career, qualifications, and hiring process. Opportunities are available statewide, with a greater number of opportunities available in Aroostook, Northern Piscataquis, and Northern Penobscot Counties. Participants are encouraged to ask any questions they may have for our game wardens.

Apply today to be a Deputy Game Warden next summer
These positions are full-time seasonal positions, from May 9, 2026 to the end of August. Deputy Game Wardens are assigned to specific bodies of water to enforce recreational boating rules and regulations and are a great way to begin a career with Maine Warden Service.
The hiring process is open until February 2, 2026. Applicants must successfully complete the Pre-Employment Physical Fitness Test and ALERT exam to apply.

Prepare for the application process by registering for a Physical Fitness Test:
Warden service applicants must pass the physical fitness test within one year of their Warden Service application date. Click here to view the physical fitness test descriptions and standards.
Maine Warden Service is administering the physical fitness test on Saturday, January 31 at 8:30 am, 10 am, and 11:30 am. Click here to register for the Physical Fitness test online.
If you are unavailable to complete the test on January 31, you can call the Maine Criminal Justice Academy at 1-207-877-8000 to schedule another time.
