Hi John,

Households across the country are already vulnerable to toxic chemicals. They can be found in our food, water, household cleaners and even furniture! It’s a big issue and, for chemicals like PFAS, it can be a lifelong threat to our health.

Nicknamed “forever chemicals” because they do not break down, PFAS can accumulate in our bodies and causes a wide range of serious health problems.

We count on EPA to enforce strict reporting requirements for manufacturers so states and regulators can design science-backed protections to keep us safe from toxic chemicals.

But now the Trump EPA is ready to gut these PFAS reporting requirements! It’s a reckless decision that will allow almost any company to leave us in the dark about harmful, “forever chemicals.” That’s why we need your help to fight back.

PFAS is toxic even at low levels and is associated with cancers, liver and heart toxicity and health problems for kids, babies and pregnant women. We need more transparency and science-backed protections to help mitigate the risks, not less.

If finalized, their proposal would give companies the chance to skirt disclosure rules that help regulators and states protect us from exposure. The rule will also cost the public critical information about PFAS in products imported into the U.S. — like clothing and cookware — many of which end up in our homes. It will also mean the loss of important information about industrial uses that release significant amounts of PFAS into the environment and our communities.

Don't let EPA put industry interests ahead of our families' health and safety! Submit a public comment to protect PFAS reporting requirements.
