You know that planning for the future is more important than ever. As we approach December 31, there are many tax-advantageous ways you can support Population Connection’s mission and amplify your impact for a sustainable future on a livable planet.

Did you know that some of the most powerful year-end gifts don’t require cash? You may be able to accomplish your tax goals, such as reducing your taxable income, avoiding capital gains taxes, or satisfying your required minimum distribution, all while supporting Population Connection.

This year-end giving season, you may wish to consider:

Stock Gifts: Donate appreciated securities to avoid capital gains taxes and maximize your impact.
IRA Gifts: If you’re 70½ or older, you can give a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your traditional IRA to lower your taxable income and satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), if applicable.
- Please note: Your IRA custodian must mail your QCD directly to Population Connection. If YOU have check-writing privileges on your IRA account, please mail your check in time for us to receive and deposit your donation by December 31st. This is different from how checks written on your checking account work—which simply need to be postmarked by the 31st. If in doubt, please get in touch with us!
Donor-Advised Funds (DAF): Recommend a grant from your DAF to support Population Connection. You can now request a gift directly through our website, for many of the popular DAF providers!
Legacy Gifts: Include a gift to Population Connection in your will or trust.
Beneficiary Designations: Name Population Connection as a beneficiary of your retirement account, such as an IRA or 401(k), a life insurance plan, or even your DAF!
Charitable Gift Annuities: CGAs offer many tax benefits, from a charitable deduction in the year of your gift, to reliable annuity payments, a portion of which come tax-free. There’s still time to establish a deferred gift annuity this year. You can fund your CGA with cash, appreciated stock or real estate, or use your one-time QCD benefit. We’re happy to talk through your options.

To make year-end giving simple and secure, we’ve updated our website with easy-to-use tools for each method. With just a few clicks, you can complete your gift and make a powerful impact before the year ends. We also have forms you can use to instruct the custodians of your financial accounts to make your gift. In addition, you can take advantage of our free, online tool allowing you to create your legal will online.
