Email from Urrutia for NH Noem’s DHS deported a Purple Heart veteran and recklessly targeted family members of multiple veterans. John, I am calling for DHS secretary Kristi Noem’s immediate resignation for recklessly deporting U.S. military veterans and targeting veterans’ family members. At a congressional hearing, Noem was confronted by Rhode Island Democrat Rep. Seth Magaziner about the deportation of Sae Joon Park, an Army combat veteran who was shot twice while serving our country in Panama in 1989. Noem denied that she had ever deported veterans. Shortly after her denial, Mr. Park joined the hearing via Zoom. Noem’s denials ring hollow. She is either lying or is willfully ignorant of what goes on in the very department she is supposed to be leading. Park came to America when he was 7 years old. He joined the Army and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. To have the country he served so faithfully treat him like a common criminal with no regard for his sacrifice is unforgivable. I have served our country in the military. Combat veterans should be treated with reverence and respect, not as expendable. Targeting veterans is appalling, disgusting, and unacceptable. Kristi Noem must resign—and if she won’t, both parties in Congress need to come together, set aside their differences, and impeach Noem ASAP. But none of my MAGA opponents in this race will stand up for veterans like Mr. Park. They are loyal only to Donald Trump, not America. It is imperative that we defeat MAGA this election.
