Gordon stressed Wyoming people expect a government that “stays in its lane” while also ensuring children, seniors and vulnerable families have access to the basic supports they need to thrive. “The government's targeted support of the basic essentials like food, shelter, and education are key to strong communities,” Governor Gordon said in his budget message. The Governor reaffirmed that healthy, stable families are central to Wyoming’s long-term strength. “Families, seniors, and communities are stronger when they are healthy and have reasonable access to healthcare,” Governor Gordon said, emphasizing the importance of services for children, seniors, and individuals with developmental disabilities or limited means.

Gordon also highlighted the challenges facing working parents across the state and reinforced Wyoming’s duty to help families meet essential needs.

“When working mothers and fathers are unable to meet the family’s wholesome nutritional needs, despite working sometimes three jobs, we have to acknowledge the problem,” Governor Gordon said. He urges continued support for programs that help families stretch their food budgets, improve financial stability and connect with community-based resources.
