John,

At every turn of the COVID-19
pandemic, Governor Brian Kemp has made clear that his priority is
not keeping the people of our state safe, but kowtowing to
President Trump. It was bad when he rushed to re-open the state
ahead of the advice from doctors and public health officials. It
was even worse when he declined to implement a statewide masking
requirement that researchers say would keep us safe. But now what
he’s doing is truly beyond the pale.

After Donald Trump’s visit to
Atlanta, Governor Kemp is now forbidding local governments across
the state from imposing their own masking ban.

Some localities and cities within
Georgia made the hard, responsible decision to implement masking
requirements at the urging of doctors and public health experts.
But now with the stroke of a pen, Governor Kemp has swept them
away.

But Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance
Bottoms has stood up to Governor Kemp and kept our masking
requirement in place. And what was Governor Kemp’s reaction? He
is suing her and the city of Atlanta.

So instead of investing in more
contact tracers, COVID tests, or relief for everyday people,
Governor Kemp is spending taxpayer dollars suing cities who are
trying to keep folks safe. Unbelievable (well, actually I guess
it is pretty believable)!

John --
I am committed to standing up to Governor Kemp and calling out
this egregious behavior. I don’t care if it puts a bullseye on my
back for National Republicans going into the election season --
there’s a clear right and wrong here, and Governor Kemp is in the
wrong.

But if you’re able, would you
consider chipping in a small donation to my campaign so we can
get this message out?

Especially in these days of social distancing it’s important
that folks hear everything that’s going on, and we rely on
grassroots support to make that happen.

I’ll keep you updated on this situation.

Stay safe. Be strong. In solidarity,

Hank
