Hi Reader,
Before you head into the weekend, I just wanted to send a quick note.
I've been so encouraged by the responses to my message earlier this week (see below), and by how many of you share our commitment to understanding what's really happening in early learning.
If you haven't had a chance to give yet,
there's still time.
**During our end-of-year campaign, every dollar is matched thanks to NewsMatch, doubling your impact.**
It takes less than a minute to make a donation [link removed], but your impact will last for the next year.
Make a gift now - it takes 45 seconds [link removed]
Thank you for considering this,

Hi Reader,
Before I became a reporter, I was a special education teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina. During summers, I traveled to Mississippi to train new teachers and saw firsthand how early learning can shape - or limit - a child's future. Those experiences are the foundation of my dedication to this work.
For the past ten years, I've covered early childhood education at The Hechinger Report, examining preschool access and child care, visiting rural classrooms and speaking with teachers about their training.
**My goal has always been to bring you closer to the realities inside early learning programs, schools and communities**, especially those that don't often make national headlines.
I've reported on how
rural families in Ohio are bracing for cuts to Head Start, on Nebraska's efforts to reimagine special education and the progress they are seeing, and on states easing child care standards in ways that may place children at risk.????
**With each story,**
****I try to show what's really happening behind the numbers we** hear so often.**
If you believe this kind of reporting matters -
**stories that start in the classroom but reach all of us**- please **consider supporting our work today** [link removed]. Every dollar donated before December 31 will be matched, helping us continue to tell the stories behind the statistics.
Yes, I'll chip in [link removed]
Thank you for reading,
