Friend, my heart is heavy this weekend as the nation mourns Congressman John Lewis.
I've been reflecting on everything he meant to our country and the movement for civil rights. Congressman Lewis was a fighter in the truest sense of the word -- who dedicated his every moment to the cause for justice.
From the Edmund Pettus Bridge to the United States Capitol, John Lewis embodied the best of our politics and society. His voice will be deeply missed, especially in this moment. It's on us to carry on his legacy of making "good trouble."
His courage, kindness, and wisdom were matched by few -- there is a reason so many have called him the moral compass of our nation. We must let his life be an example of how to carry forward and achieve justice.
John Lewis inspired so many of us. His lessons will be taught to generations to come. And we have hope for the future because he was on this Earth. May he rest in power.
Sincerely,
Dana
