As you know, we’ve been fighting the wave of major, discriminatory and open-ended policies targeting Iranians and nationals from 18 other countries listed in the June travel ban. The latest policies significantly escalate discrimination against Iranians, and will lead to denials and cancellations, status loss, threats of re-interview and vetting of those with active greencards, and even possible arrests and deportations. Some Iranians have even been turned away from naturalization ceremonies solely because they were born in Iran.
Now, lawmakers are stepping up. Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Lizzie Fletcher (D-TX) are leading a congressional letter urging USCIS to reverse these harmful actions. This is a crucial next step, and it will be most powerful if Members of Congress hear directly from their constituents.
