Personal care and cosmetic products are far too unregulated, with many containing toxic chemicals linked to infertility, cancer, obesity, asthma, and other serious health conditions. A combination of racist beauty standards and aggressive target marketing have led young women of color to higher rates of use for these harmful products – on top of already being exposed to disproportionate amounts of toxic chemicals.
WE ACT is currently fighting to pass the New York State’s Beauty Justice Act, which would ban the most dangerous toxic chemicals from the majority of personal care and cosmetic products sold in the state. While our federal political leadership continues to push a deregulatory and anti-public health agenda, we must continue fighting in New York for tougher regulations on personal care products. Will you make a gift today to support WE ACT’s Beauty Justice campaign and help protect our communities from toxic chemicals?
