Dear John,

When Tracey found out she was pregnant with her fifth child, her world started to crumble. She was suffering from a severe form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that had already sent her to the emergency room several times. Her marriage was falling apart, her husband was deployed in the military, and she felt completely alone.

“I could end this right now,” she thought.

With no one nearby to lean on and her hands already full caring for four children, Tracey decided the abortion pill was her only option. She searched online for abortion facilities. But thankfully, that’s when she found Human Coalition.

Tracey called and explained that her unstable marriage was driving her to consider abortion. The nurse on the other end listened, prayed with her, and gently encouraged her to come in for a free ultrasound. Still overwhelmed by the possible divorce and unexpected pregnancy, she figured an ultrasound couldn’t hurt.

At her appointment, Tracey learned she was six weeks and three days along. The heartbeat was strong, and her baby was thriving. It was still too early to tell, but Tracey found herself curious if she was carrying a boy or a girl. She found herself hoping for a boy and increasingly wanting to know. Something within her was changing, and there was not only curiosity, but a growing joy for the pregnancy.

Her turning point came soon after:

“I chose to parent my child because my faith that the Lord will carry us through was stronger than my doubt and worry… God knows the perfect timing and it’s never in your control. I accepted that this is what God has planned for my life, and me being a mother is the greatest gift and job on earth.”

Human Coalition stayed by Tracey’s side throughout her pregnancy, providing counseling, resources, and encouragement through our Continuum of Care program.

“Human Coalition made me feel special,” Tracey said. “To have them checking in on me and giving me hope and advice really made me feel that I had other women out there who had my back and truly cared about my health and mental state. I felt like I had a good friend with Human Coalition.”

Today, Tracey and her baby boy are doing well. “I’m in so much love with him,” she wrote after delivery. “I have to understand that God does not make any mistakes.”

Tracey chose to parent her child because her faith was stronger than her fear. She said, “God knows the perfect timing.” 

With support from Human Coalition’s Continuum of Care, Tracey carried her baby boy to term. Today, she says, “I’m in so much love with him.”
