Columbus residents made their voices impossible to ignore as dozens of community members stood up at the PUCO hearings to demand that AEP’s proposed rate increase be denied. Our community showed up in force and PUCO had no choice but to hear us. The Columbus Stand Up team is proud to stand in community with you. We showed up and we demanded to be heard.

This is what real accountability looks like. And it is just the beginning. Please mark your calendar for the evidentiary hearing on January 21 when we will hand-deliver the petitions we have collected.

We have gathered over 1,700 petitions so far, but we need your help to keep the momentum going. Every signature is another way for our community to push back against unfair utility practices. If you have not already, please sign the petition today.

Another urgent way to take action is through AEP’s attempt to make it harder for Ohioans to go solar by rewriting the rules for net metering, the program that gives people credit for the energy their rooftop solar panels produce. PUCO needs to hear from us to protect residential solar, energy independence, and a cleaner, fairer grid. Please submit a comment to PUCO in support of strong net metering rules. The clock is ticking on this one, we have until tomorrow to be heard!

Together we are showing AEP that Columbus will not sit quietly while our families, schools, and neighborhoods are impacted. Keep standing up. Keep taking action. Make sure you are with us on January 21.

You can also show your support by donating to our work. Columbus Stand Up is powered by grants and small-dollar contributions. Every dollar helps us continue empowering working families across Central Ohio. We deeply appreciate your support.

Thank you again for your continued commitment to Columbus Stand Up. We look forward to continuing this work together and to keep winning in 2026.

For Columbus,
