[link removed] [[link removed]] John,In October, CREW filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of the League of Women Voters, the Electronic Privacy Information Center, and five individual plaintiffs against the Trump administration for its unlawful expansion of the Department of Homeland Security’s SAVE system — turning it into a tool for conducting citizenship checks to determine eligibility to vote and obtain government benefits.
Our lawsuit argues that the expansion puts Americans’ privacy at risk and could wrongly strip citizens from voter rolls or deny them essential services.
Once we sued, DHS scrambled to publish a required notice and open a public comment period. So we asked you , our top supporters, to give your input on these changes — and thousands of people stepped up:
The agency received over 9,300 comments and nearly 98% were opposed to the government’s dramatic expansion of the SAVE system.
Now, we need your help again.
The Social Security Administration also published a system of records notice on the SAVE program and their deadline is this Friday. We’re asking you to take a stand once again and join us in protecting our democracy and every eligible American’s right to vote. Please, take a few minutes to submit your comment before Friday. We need a groundswell of public pressure again to ensure the SAVE program isn’t quietly expanded in ways that put your rights at risk → [[link removed]]
