Dear Friends,
The Israeli army is responsible for the deadliest war against journalists in modern history. Nearly 220 news professionals have been murdered in the Gaza Strip, at least 65 of them killed for doing their job: keeping the world informed about the conflict from on the ground.
The October ceasefire has not ended the Israeli strikes in northern Gaza and the territory remains completely blockaded — no foreign journalists can cover the conflict without being watched by the Israeli army, not even Israeli reporters or Palestinian journalists abroad. Not only are the Israeli authorities targeting the last few reliable news sources inside Gaza, but they’re also leading a relentless global propaganda campaign to discredit their work.
If foreign media workers aren’t allowed into the Gaza Strip, the consequences of this war will remain invisible, meaning the Israeli army can continue committing crimes with total impunity. Even if the ceasefire eventually makes it possible for local journalists to travel within Gaza to document evidence and find key sources, the colossal damage to infrastructure has made moving around the Palestinian territory very complicated. And those still heroically reporting from the Strip are doing so against unthinkable odds — they face a severe lack of necessities, medical supplies, professional support and, above all, justice.

The Israeli army’s crimes against Palestinian reporters are an assault on everyone’s right to reliable information. Gaza’s journalists — like so many of their colleagues around the world — need our support. Your donation to RSF helps us provide them with aid, fight for their rights in international courts and make sure they can keep reporting the news.
Thank you for standing by our side,
The Reporters Without Borders team
