Maine Department of Labor Publishes 2026 Prevailing Wage Rates
AUGUSTA – The Maine Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Standards released the 2026 prevailing wage rates for construction trades working on public construction projects today. The updated rates will be effective January 10, 2026. All of the prevailing wage rates, by county, are posted online: maine.gov/labor/labor_stats/publications/wagerateconst/prevailingwage/index.shtml
The Bureau calculates the prevailing wage rates according to 26 MRSA §1308, which requires consideration of an annual statewide survey, certified payroll, and federal Davis-Bacon wage rates. Maine law Title 26 Chapter 15 requires that contractors on publicly funded construction and infrastructure projects pay workers wages consistent with local standards (prevailing wages). This ensures taxpayer dollars support local workers, promote quality jobs, and ensure fair competition among contractors.
“Maine continues to protect workers and invest in communities through strong prevailing wage protections,” said Maine Bureau of Labor Standards Director Kate Burkhart.
The Advisory Board on Minimum Wage Rates on Construction Projects will meet to review the 2026 prevailing wage rates on December 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Maine Department of Labor, 45 Commerce Drive, Augusta, Maine. There will be an opportunity for public comment at the Advisory Board meeting.

Individuals who wish to object to the published 2026 rates can submit a written objection to the Department. Written objections must be received before December 22, 2025.
