November Firearm deer harvest down 7% statewide

Preliminary results from the 2025 Nebraska November firearm deer season show statewide harvest fell 7% from 2024.

Given that populations are down after several years of drought, harsh winters, and disease outbreaks — and permit numbers have been reduced to aid in recovery — the lower harvest was no surprise.

As you're out enjoying the outdoors, be mindful of a few best practices around wild birds. A strain of the highly pathogenic avian influenza, H5N1, is circulating in Nebraska, so Nebraska Game and Parks is asking for your help reporting sick, dead or abnormally behaving birds. We also have some tips for best practices to protect yourself, your animals and wildlife.
