As for this next one, I hope you see what I see — Iowa’s next governor!

Long before I served as Assistant Attorney General and State Auditor, I was just your average skateboarding Iowa kid.

I spent a good chunk of high school working with my fellow skateboarders to convince my hometown of Decorah to put in a skatepark.

I wasn’t thinking about it within the context of public service, my friends and I were just tired of getting told all the places we couldn’t skateboard.

But after gathering petition signatures, scouting locations, and talking to a handful of city departments, the city took our determination as evidence that we weren’t going to give up.

And we got the skatepark built!

And I thought to myself, “Hey, I just worked with the government to do something that made my town better. Huh.”

I’d say the rest is history, but this campaign is only just getting started.

Partisan insiders have pulled our state off track, but between recent special elections results and polls that show me with a narrow lead, there’s clearly an appetite to reverse bad policies that are harming Iowa families.
