Donald Trump’s assault on democracy isn’t just about elections anymore. Now he’s targeting the agencies that hold him accountable.

The Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court to eliminate the very concept of independent federal agencies , starting with the FTC, but the consequences could ripple out to the FEC, FCC, and more.

In short: If Trump wins this case, future presidents could fire any official who stands in their way, and agencies meant to protect consumers, regulate elections, or police corruption would become extensions of executive power.

The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Democratic Secretaries of State are one of the last remaining checks on this authoritarian agenda. They don’t answer to the president. They answer to the people.
