Impeachable in any context, Trump is wholly aware that his threats and his call for the execution of his political rivals place these officials’ lives at risk, incite violence by his followers, and undermine our democracy, which cannot survive where dissent is punishable by death.
The Framers designed the Impeachment Clause for this very moment – to address a corrupt executive who tramples on the Constitution and the rule of law. They made it clear that Congress is responsible for holding tyrants like Trump accountable.
