We don’t get nearly enough good news when it comes to gun violence prevention work, so I wanted to share a few positive updates with you:
- Several cities in Utah are giving away free gun locks and educating people about the importance of locking firearms away in a safe place. It’s called “Project Childsafe.”
- Governor Tina Kotek of Oregon signed a gun safety bill that bans rapid-fire devices and clarifies where firearms can and cannot be carried.
- After one of their classmates was shot on campus, hundreds of high school students in Oakland walked out of class calling for an end to gun violence.
I know it can be overwhelming, reading news of school shootings and gun violence every single day – so it’s important that we take a moment to celebrate these wins.
